Sigma Alpha Iota is an International Music Fraternity. Formed to "uphold the highest standards of music" and "to further the development of music in America and throughout the world" in 1903, we continue to provide musical and educational resources to our members and the general public. Sigma Iota Chapter was founded on the 24th of January, 1925 at Syracuse University. |
When and Where
SAI's Purposes
- To form chapters of women college students and alumnae who have a sincere interest in music

Our Advisors
Michelle Taylor
Michelle Taylor is the assistant director for operations at the Setnor School of Music. She moved to the Syracuse area from New York City after a 15-year career at Carnegie Hall, where she started as an intern and was most recently in the role of hall manager. While in New York, she also worked at the Met Opera, a number of freelance production events, and for the Mets baseball organization. Michelle earned a bachelor of arts in music and studio art from SUNY Potsdam and a master's degree in arts administration from New York University. |
Ida Tili Trebicka
Pianist Ida Tili Trebicka, has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and China, as orchestral soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. Ida has been featured on Albanian National Radio-Television, Italian Broadcasting Corporation RAI 2, Radio Ancona, Italy, and locally on WCNY in Syracuse, WBFO in Buffalo, WCCA TV 13 in Boston, and local station in Binghamton NY. Invited by the Italian Federation of Women of Professions, Arts and Affairs and the Universities of Torino and Ancona, she has performed solo recitals in Ancona, Torino and Florence, Italy. Ida made her New York City debut in 2001 at the Merkin Hall, and continues to play at the city regularly. In venues such as the Tenri Cultural Center, the Victor Borge Hall, at the Scandinavian House. Locally Ida performs regularly under the auspices of Syracuse University, Civic Morning Musicals, Society for New Music and Symphoria; she collaborates frequently with members of Symphor!a, in annual chamber music concerts. She serves as a judge as various competitions Syracuse State, and given numerous masterclasses in various colleges in the area. This past Fall, she performed in Symphony Space in New York City, where she was awarded the Medal of “Albanian Excellence”, for her contribution to Albanian culture and heritage, by the President of the Republic of Albania and Albanian Excellence Organization. She is a founding member of “AMIDA” piano duo and the “40 Fingers” Piano Quartet, with fellow pianists Amy Heyman, Tina Toglia and Margaret Reitz. She was one of the performers in Society for New Music CD “Now and Then” which just received a SAMMY Award. Ida was proud to be chosen to receive Top Teacher of year 2016 by the Steinway & Sons Inc. She is a member of NYSAMT, CNYAMT, MTNA, and serves in the board of Directors for Civic Morning Musicals. A Professor of Practice in Music at Keyboard Department in Setnor School of Music of Syracuse University, Ida is committed to teaching music to younger generation and installing in them the love of music. |
